Each Goddess is an aspect of the original Creator - she was consumed by conflicting desires and close to insanity (as beings of incredible power must surely often be) and divided her power between four aspects. These represent the classic LG, CG, LE and CE alignments, while the races are intentionally aligned along one axis or the other but not both, leaving the now Neutral Creator to oversee them...

I like it. I have a similar concept of cosmology for my world, Elthos. It helps me a great deal to GM a more coherent (to the degree possible) back story than I was able to do before settling the question of Who is Who among the Elkron (my version of Deities for Elthos, loosely translated as "The Great Powers"). Now when I GM I have a good idea of what the cosmological forces and imperatives are, and that helps a lot to keep things within a framework that at least I can understand, if not my players. :)
