A free RPG this week - and a day late due to internets being replaced.
RAG expands on the warmly received Warrior, Rogue and Mage by taking the WyRM system and using it in a pulp game. Hurrah! It's nice to see some love for the pulp genre in gaming - other than Thrilling Tales for SW, what else do we have?
(My group did try to run a pulpy game in GURPS, but ended up with "Indy" being gunned down by Nazis in the first scene. But I digress.)
The core mechanic remains, with the original's fantasy archetypes replaced - choose your character's balance of Resolute (gritty Noir-trope), Adventurer (Han Solo-trope) and Genius (Boffin trope) along with three skills and a talent. Then have fun and roll dice.
Presentation is tight, content includes background on the pulp "genre" from the 1910s to the forties, and beyond, suitable equipment and villains ... and Resolute, Adventurer & Genius is available for free download right HERE. What's not to like?
A geek dad's gaming blog. I like characterful characters, rich plots, random generators, and minimal prep - and occasionally play wargames and boardgames.
